Reset Your Mind and Body with High-Altitude Hikes and Massages – UrbanDaddy
If your idea of a restorative vacation involves sipping umbrella drinks on the beach, you should definitely do that.
But if you’d rather fight stress, fatigue and mental burnout by walking deep into the wilderness and dangling from rock faces, that can also be arranged.
Reset is a new wellness program in Telluride, Colorado, that is designed to rejuvenate your mind and body through nature, movement and clean living. It was founded by Dylan Bates and Holli Owen, a duo with backgrounds in physical therapy and plant-based nutrition. During your six-day experience, you’ll stay at the five-star Madeline Hotel & Residences, which is part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, so you’re not exactly roughing it.
Why the mountains? The idea is to amplify nature’s healing powers through high-altitude trekking, because moving your body at high elevations improves your breathing and helps your muscles push past the burn to peak performance. Also, it’s really pretty out there.

Every program includes daily treks in the San Juan mountains followed by hour-long massages to help you recuperate. There are also oxygen enrichment programs, plus lots of good food. You’ll have breakfast, lunch and dinner at a communal table with your small group of fellow travelers, eating dishes that lean heavily on ancient grains and fresh produce.
Portions of the retreat are customizable, with options to follow one of three available tracks. Reach involves extra-rigorous trekking with a certified mountain guide, plus fitness sessions and a plant-based cooking class. Recharge includes rejuvenating bodywork treatments and guided meditation sessions. And Roam is geared toward adventure-seekers, with rock climbing, fly-fishing and paragliding experiences.
Your days will begin and end early, since the whole point of this retreat is to rest, recharge and get some unencumbered sleep.
But, we checked, and the hotel does have a bar.
