Have you ever wondered why you feel so relaxed when you’re lying on the beach, breathing in the salty ocean air? According to believers in halotherapy, it’s actually the salt that helps create this serene sensation. To bring this experience to Appalachia, Bruceton Wellness Center in nearby Bruceton Mills operates our region’s first and only Himalayan Salt Spa and Cave—a warm, dimly-lit room dedicated to relaxation, packed full of 30,000 pounds of salt imported from Pakistan. Many believe that salt caves, natural or simulated, can relieve allergies, skin irritation, anxiety, and more.
But that’s not all Bruceton Wellness Center has to offer. We spoke with one of the facility’s massage therapists, Aaron Twigg, to learn more about Bruceton Wellness Center’s services.
“We have two chiropractors who each specialize in different areas,” Twigg says. “The owner, Dr. Lint, does adjustments, acupuncture, cupping, and active release therapy, and Dr. Mallon does adjustments, cupping, and functional nutrition.” A personal trainer offers in-person and online training, and another massage therapist, who previously practiced at Nemacolin Resort’s spa, specializes in Swedish Massage.
As for Twigg, he specializes in medical and deep tissue massages as well as headache/migraine relief. Many of his clients come from as far as Pittsburgh. To his knowledge, he is the only massage therapist in the tri-state area who specializes in RAPID NeuroFascial Reset, a new therapeutic technique that directly targets the central nervous system and can quickly relieve pain from a number of conditions.
In addition to the unique expertise Twigg brings to Bruceton Wellness, what sets this business apart, he says, is its affordability, its range of services, and its staff’s teamwork. “When a client comes in, we really listen to them,” he says. “We come up with the best treatment plans with thorough assessments, and we thrive as a team. The atmosphere is amazing.”
